Eat Well – Be Well – Look Well

That is exactly how it works! 

There is no getting around it, we must consume foods that are good for us or all the professional, not to mention expensive, skin care in the world will not be nearly as effective as it should be and certainly could be.

It all comes down to chemistry.  

Our bodies are factories.  They are continually producing millions and millions of new cells that re-create us bit by bit, year after year.  The best way to support this production, and help it to be as efficient as possible, is by eating properly.  Our daily diet is the fuel that our factories use to make the end product – which is the only body we will ever have!

What is best to eat?  

Stay with the basics.  A healthy woman should go back to the traditional food pyramid, and I want to say upfront that I don’t care what new, updated or so-called better changes may have been made to that pyramid.  Don’t buy into it.  The statistics speak for themselves, and in the USA we are looking at 40% of adults over the age of 18 being overweight or obese, and, 19% of our children.  That means that the  majority of the diet plans, especially the “miracles” and “lose weight fast” types, are not worth the time it takes to listen to them!

We should focus each day on eating lean protein 2 to 3 times per day,  5 to 7 servings  (a serving is 1/2 cup by the way) of whole fruit and vegetables, whole grains, dairy (I break that out from protein because it’s very important) and of course, 8 to 10 glasses of pure water.

Sweets and alcoholic beverages should be consumed 3 times per week or less.  And, let’s all do ourselves a favor and make the “sweets” fruit pies or homemade custard that have much more nutritional value than layer cakes and candy bars.

Alcohol ideally should be either wine or clear liquor that is served on ice without mixers of any kind.  Even though a drink a day for women is considered by the medical and fitness communities to be just fine, I’d say have one or two 3x per week maximum to not only enjoy it more but give your body a chance to cleanse itself of any residual toxins (yes alcohol is a toxin) in-between.

Your skin will love you back! 

For sure, when you treat your body with love your skin will glow like never before – so prepare yourself for people who start asking “Have you done something??”  Ha!  Wait until they get your answer!
